Why 2017 Will Be Better

I'm gonna be honest, 2016 wasn't the best year I've ever had. I feel like a lot of people will empathise when I say that 2016 was a pretty crappy year in terms of general world events and personal life events. However, let's not think about the negatives. Instead, I'm going to talk about how I aim to make 2017 an incredible year filled with happiness! I hope that you can take some tips from this if you need help in making 2017 a year to remember.

2017 goals:

-Take More Opportunities-
New experiences can be either a bad or a good thing. However, perhaps it's worth taking risks in order to obtain those amazing experiences which you will never forget. I am a shy, timid, introverted person; saying "yes" to opportunities is something I struggle with. However, I have already begun achieving this goal as I am going to Asia in Summer 2017 to help children in poverty and work in an elephant conservation camp. This is something which TERRIFIES me, however it will be a life-changing experience. I need to take more risky opportunities so I can become a stronger, more confident person. It's scary, but completely worth it!

-Focus On My Health-
In 2016, I joined a gym and... wait for it... I ACTUALLY WENT TO IT. My goal for 2017 is to continue going to the gym so I can become stronger, and I also want to cook better meals too. It's really not healthy to eat Nutella on toast for breakfast, lunch and tea every day for a week. My diet is definitely something I need to work on! I also plan on visiting the doctor more. I'm one of those people who will only trust myself when it comes to health issues - "I don't need a doctor to help me out, I can fix it on my own". Perhaps I need to be a bit more trusting in the people who are professionally trained to help me out, rather than trusting my own judgement.

I am probably one of the most tense, stressed out people you could ever meet. My stress levels are something I need to work on for sure. I panic over everything and anything. Simply, my goal for 2017 is to chill out a bit more and just go with the flow. Not everything is worth stressing over.

-Remain Organised-
As I have four deadlines in January, I should probably manage my time a bit better. I spend far too much time watching YouTube videos or Netflix, so it's an important goal for me to prioritise work more. I have already unsubscribed from a lot of people on YouTube to help me with this goal, and hopefully I will stick to it so that I can achieve the best grades at uni.

-Respect Myself-
If a guy ever treated me the way I treat myself, I would have to leave him. I don't show myself any respect, and that's kinda bad considering I have to live with myself for the rest of my life. I need to show myself a bit of love, I need to forgive myself more for mistakes, I need to stop being so self-critical and I need to boost my own ego. It's much better and healthier for the mind to put yourself first and be a bit selfish. I did that slightly in 2016 through standing up for myself and removing negative people from my life, but I need to do this so much more! 2017 will be the year where I put myself first and show myself the respect I deserve.

Thank you for reading this post. I hope you had an incredible Christmas and have a lovely New Year. I'm feeling extremely positive and hopeful for 2017; I'm determined to make it one of my happiest years yet. Let's make this an amazing year!
